Popcorn Program
Why Sell Popcorn:
  • Scouts gain confidence, salesmanship, communication skills, and a sense of accomplishment.  The popcorn sale is not about selling popcorn, its about promoting scouting and the scouting ideals!
  •  This is our only fundraiser.  Scouts can earn money towards camp, cool prizes, and money for the pack.  We use funds for various scouting events during the year.
  • Popcorn sales also help Northern Star Scouting raise money for improving camp facilities, building new camp locations, offering more intensive training for the volunteer leaders and members, and more.
Sales Goals:
  • Each scout should sit down and determine how much they would like to sell and how they want to achieve their goal.
  • While we appreciate any amount a scout sells $450 is a good goal to set.

Ways to Sell:

Show and Deliver
  • Popcorn is requested from the popcorn chair.  Families come and pick up the product to sell.  More can be picked up at any time.
  • The scout and a chaperone take the product and sell directly to the consumer.  Usually this is done door to door.
Take Orders
  • The scout has 2 options for take orders.  1 option is to go door to door and collect orders and payment.  The other option is to have a family member take the order form to work and collect orders and payment.
  • The take order form is then turned in for product.  Once the scout has the product they must deliver the product in a timely fashion to consumers.  In many cases take orders can be filled immediately.
Selling Online
  • The Scout communicates his information via social media, email, phone, etc. The Customer can go online and purchase popcorn with a Credit Card  at http://www.trails-end.com/trailsend/scouts/
  • The Product is shipped directly from Trail’s End to the customer and the Scout and Unit receive credit for the Sale.
  • Online products are exclusive and different than what is in the sales guide.
Store Fronts
  • Store Fronts make up a big part of our popcorn program. We've obtained permission from local businesses to set up a sales table.  Storefronts have plenty of products on-hand for people to buy.  2 Scouts work with a guardian for 2 hours.
  • Check the calendar for show and sell times and other important details.
Scouts can also create their own Show and Sell
  • by reaching out to local businesses and getting permission to set up a table for sales.  If you do, be sure to let us know.  We're happy to help you help us by coordinating other Scout's participation and providing the popcorn!
Signing up for Storefronts

  • Contact the popcorn chair directly to sign up for Storefronts at jswilkinson12@yahoo.com
